Teaching at Lan-master
Also called Language Master, Lan-master are an online teaching platform on which EFL teachers can connect with Chinese students looking to study General English or prepare for the speaking componenet of their IELTS exam. A big drawback of teaching for Lan-master are that all their classes are done from an App on a kobile phone. This can make it difficult to share materials, or make class notes. Similarly, teaching from a mobile phone can make referring to teaching notes and vocabulary a bit more tricky than it ought to be. However, there are some great benefits of teaching on the Lan-master app. The most important is the ability to set your own schedule, which means teachers can make themselves available for as many or as few hours as they like. The students also have apps on which they can find teachers, check their availability, and book classes. As it is not really suitable as a main source of income most teachers arrange their Lan-master hours around a main, or other jobs. You can also teach as hoc lessons because there is a button on the app which you can set to available, so students can call you. When you are done press the button again to show that you are busy. Classes are typically half an hour long, although students sometimes book slots next to each other so they can learn for an hour. Unlike some apps, there is no way for the teachers to interact with eachother, however you can attract students by seeing who is online and sending them a message. Most of the students are looking to practice live IELTS questions with the teacher acting as an examiner.
How do I apply to be a teacher on Lan-master?
If you feel you have the suitable qualifications and experience then you can apply for a job at Lan-master by sending a copy of your CV to lanmaster_hr1@163.com. You will then be invited to an interview, on Skype or now Teams, where they will assess your suitability for the job. They will ask you questions about your EFL experience and will prioritise candidates who have some experience of teaching IELTS. Another way to apply is to download the app on the Play Store, be sure to enter the referral code 9WUIM3 when you do so. Although the starting pay is low, only about £5 pounds per hour, their are incentives and after your second full hour of teaching you can expect your pay to go up to about £7 per hour. Further increments are available for high-performing and dedicated teachers. There are also bonuses for teachers who perform a lot of hours in a month. For example, on the 7th of April teachers were sett the challenge of completing the @Challenge for Cash Bonus', in which teachers are paid an extra 540 RMB if they teach 1600 minutes of teaching within a month. Teachers who achieve 30 hours or more for two consecutive months after passing their probabtion will be upgraded to 96 yuan an hour.Referall Bonus
